Nachhören
“Nachhören”, A transdisciplinary Performance in resonance with Toru Takemitsu
The aim of this project is to present a transdisciplinary approach of the concept of Ma in Tōru Takemitsu's music, his inspirations and influences. The Japanese word Ma (“gap” or “space”) can be interpreted as a space in between or around an image, sound or people. In the West and East, the concept of Ma is present in architecture, art, garden design, decoration and many other aesthetic aspects. However, how does the concept of Ma influence our perception? How to relate it to music? As a great admirer of Tōru Takemitsu's music and his legacy, I will introduce the concept of Ma through a transdisciplinary performance in resonance with Tōru Takemitsu. Furthermore, music combined with other arts in one performance can have a significant impact on the action of listening and the perception of time and space.
